How long does Basetao really store items for free?

Basetao's own homepage lists "180-day storage" among its free services — the longest window of any agent we track. KakoGuide's June 2026 review recorded 120 days of free storage, which is still generous. We show both because they don't agree, and the figure that counts is the one in your account when your item arrives.

What does Basetao charge, and how can you pay?

Basetao's homepage describes its shopping-service fee as "ranging from 0 to 5 percent only", and lists search help, quality checks and photo uploads as free. KakoGuide describes the standard rate as 5%, with promotional fee-free periods from time to time. The honest reading is: expect 5%, and treat anything lower as a promotion.

For buyers in Germany, Belgium or Portugal, the local bank options are a real convenience. Everyone else should still use PayPal or a card for the first order, for the dispute rights.

Basetao shipping: tax-inclusive lines and weight complaints

"Basetao shipping calculator" and "basetao calculator" appear in both Google's and Bing's suggestions, and shipping is where Basetao's reviewers push back. KakoGuide lists US-bound options including HK-FedEx, Shanghai FedEx, UPS and EMS, some described as tax-inclusive, and notes recurring complaints about "expensive shipping and inflated chargeable weight".

1. Run the calculator with a realistic weight, including boxes.
2. Ask about volumetric weight on bulky items — "chargeable weight" is usually the larger of actual and volumetric.
3. For the US, prefer a line that states duty is included; since August 2025 every parcel from China owes it.

Verdict: Basetao's shipping isn't cheap. Its value is in storage and patience, so ship one well-packed parcel rather than several small ones.

Is Basetao still worth using in 2026?

Basetao is a veteran with a small footprint. It was on the web by August 2014, long before most of today's agents, and it has an official Facebook presence tied to its Guangzhou warehouse. But it has no mobile app, a dated website, support limited to Chinese office hours, and so few Trustpilot reviews — single and low double digits per profile, according to KakoGuide — that the ratings tell you little. Its QC reputation is a bright spot: buyers value its careful inspection, especially for pricier items.

That makes Basetao a good fit for a patient buyer who values long storage and careful checking over app convenience, and a poor fit for someone who wants quick chat support and a phone app.

Verdict: Choose Basetao for slow, careful hauls. Choose a newer agent if you want an app and round-the-clock support.

Basetao works entirely through its website, which feels old-fashioned next to app-first agents but is perfectly usable on a phone browser. "basetao login" and "basetao sign up" are two of its most common searches, so it's worth knowing the flow before you start:

1. Sign up on basetao.com — type the address yourself rather than following a link from a spreadsheet.
2. Paste a Weidian, Taobao or 1688 link into the order form and add the size, colour and any notes for the buyer.
3. Pay for the item and domestic shipping; Basetao buys it and posts free QC photos when it arrives in Guangzhou.
4. Let items gather within the storage window, then submit them for one international parcel.

Support works Chinese office hours, so a question sent in the European evening is usually answered the next morning. Plan around that rather than expecting instant chat replies.
