What do you get from HooBuy's six free QC photos?

Six is a good number. Many agents send three to five photos and don't commit to a count at all; HooBuy's six HD shots per item, with extras at ¥1 each, are enough to cover the front, back, a label, a detail and a measurement or two. "HooBuy spreadsheet with qc" is one of Google's suggestions for this agent, and it's the part of the service reviewers most often praise alongside fast international delivery.

Use them deliberately. Before the photos arrive, decide the three things that would make you return the item — the logo shape, the stitching on a seam, the sole colour — and if one of them isn't clearly visible, spend ¥1 or ¥2 on a close-up rather than guessing.

Verdict: HooBuy's QC is a genuine strength. Plan the checks you care about and buy one or two targeted close-ups if needed.

HooBuy's 8% clause: what the user agreement says

This is the section to read before you top up. KakoGuide, which reviewed HooBuy's user agreement in June 2026, quotes it as reserving a service charge of "8% of the purchase price" plus "8% of the shipping cost". HooBuy's own marketing, meanwhile, leans on "no hidden fees", and rep.tools' September ranking records that HooBuy advertises no fee but hasn't published a fee table.

Both can be true at once: a company can choose not to charge a fee its terms allow. But the terms are what count in a dispute. On a $200 haul with $60 of shipping, 8% of each would be $16 plus $4.80 — about $21 you may or may not see.

1. Before paying, screenshot the checkout breakdown and look for any line that isn't item price, domestic shipping or international shipping.
2. Do the same at the shipping stage, when the 8% on shipping would apply.
3. If an unexpected charge appears, ask support in writing what it is and which clause it relies on.

Verdict: Treat HooBuy's 'no fees' as a current offer, not a promise. Your screenshots are what protect you if the terms are applied later.

Why are HooBuy's reviews so split?

HooBuy's Trustpilot page shows 3.8/5 from 567 reviews, 201 of them from the past twelve months, and the newest was posted on August 12, 2026. What stands out is the shape: 64% five-star, 29% one-star, and almost nothing in between. That usually means a service that works well until something goes wrong, and then struggles to put it right.

The happy reviews are about product quality and quick shipping — one says everything "arrived quickly and without any issues". The unhappy ones are about what happens after a problem: warehouse processing delays, support that answers like a bot, and money that takes a long time to come back. One reviewer wrote that it took "4 months to cancel items" and months more for the refund. HooBuy replied to about 22% of negative reviews, usually within a week.

KakoGuide adds that 2026 reviews describe the service getting worse, with months-long refunds becoming more common. rep.tools reaches a similar conclusion in its September ranking: broad platform coverage, but weak reviews for an agent of its size.

Verdict: HooBuy works well when orders go smoothly. If you need refunds or cancellations to be quick, choose an agent with a better record on those.

HooBuy storage and shipping, in numbers

HooBuy stores items free for 90 days. After that, according to its terms as quoted by KakoGuide, goods are "automatically considered given up and will be destroyed" — there's no paid extension to fall back on. Diarise day 80 for every item.

HooBuy has traded since 2024; the Wayback Machine first captured its site on April 20, 2024.

The payment list is unusually long, which suits European buyers who prefer iDEAL, Sofort or Blik to a card. US buyers should note that KakoGuide found no published HooBuy plan for the post-August-2025 duty rules, so check whether your chosen line includes duty before you ship.
